The School Curriculum & Teaching Methods
THE SCHOOL CURRICULUM AND THE CHILDREN
The British School offers a warm, secure and caring environment to help our children enjoy and benefit from all they do at school. We give a strong emphasis to establish skills in English and Mathematics for all pupils. Equal priority is also given to Science and Information and Communication Technology. Our topic work reinforces the interrelated nature of knowledge and skills and includes many areas of the broader curriculum. This cross curricular approach encompasses the range of subjects. Subjects will be taught as part of the school's commitment to a cross curricular approach and as discrete subjects where and when appropriate.
TEACHING AND LEARNING METHODS
A variety of methods are used to meet the individual needs of our children.
- Direct teaching - individual, group or class.
- Discussion between teacher and pupils and between pupils themselves.
- Appropriate practical work.
- Problem solving.
- Investigational work
- First hand experience.
