Pupil Progress & Assessment
PUPIL'S PROGRESS AND ASSESSMENT
Throughout their schooling children are assessed by their teachers. Regular assessments are vital for the planned work to be appropriate and meaningful and to ensure each child's progress continues.
During the Autumn Term and Spring Term arrangements are made for a formal interview with parents so that their child's overall progress can be discussed. We also send an annual report home during the Summer term.
Parents should immediately contact the class teacher should any problem arise concerning their child's work or welfare at any time during the school year.

HOMEWORK
Our policy ensures continuity and progression throughout the school. Children benefit from suitable well differentiated work. Our aim is that the children enjoy their time at home as they only get the chance to be children once! However, a small amount of homework will enable them to become more independent learners.
Foundation Stage
Reception children receive reading books to read at home.
Year 1 and 2
The children will read scheme reading books. These will be changed regularly.
Year 2
In addition the children will be given spellings to learn each week.
Years 3 and 4
Homework will include scheme reading books, an English activity, a weekly maths sheet, and a spelling list
Years 5 and 6
In addition our older juniors may receive an open ended topic assignment.
Year 7, 8 and 9 Each child will receive a homework timetable which covers a variety of subjects. Children will be expected to complete up to a maximum of 1 hours homework per night
BEHAVIOUR
The staff/pupil relationship we enjoy at the British School enables our children to develop a sense of social behavior naturally through individual responsibility and recognition of the needs and feelings of others. Our older children are encouraged to take on additional responsibilities. Discipline will be fair and simple. It will be based upon treating others as you would want to be treated yourself.
