Welcome to the school's first ever attempt at an alumni!

Our school was started in September 1968 and was originally called the British Community School. It started following a study carried out by a committee formed from the British business community in Tripoli. At that time, applications for admission to Tripoli College greatly exceeded the places available and the British School was to provide education at the Primary level for two classes aged 5 and 6 years old. The school was run by a Management Committee with H.E. the British Ambassador as patron.

The school opened in September 1968 in two rooms of the Garrison Church building at Bab Azizia. In 1969 the school was enlarged to provide additional classrooms and an extra year group was added to accommodate a class for 7 year olds.

The school suffered a setback when the Garrison Church was taken over in August 1970. The school moved to land owned by the Oil School. These premises were repossessed again in September 1971.

A new location for the school was found in a villa in Collina Verde (Hay Andalus) at the beginning of the 1971 academic year. These premises were found to be too small for the increasing demand for places. Following the departure of the British Military and Naval Mission, the Mission School premises became available. The school moved to our current premises (KS1 building) in February 1972.

The school has had its fair share of challenges over the last 39 years. We are now approaching our 40th Anniversary of providing high quality British education in Tripoli.

2004 – Visit by HRH Duke of Kent

Visit by HRH Duke of Kent. Head Teacher was Charles Weston, now in his second year of being Head of the school. A relatively recent photograph with the majority of teaching assistants still with us.
